What Does the Bible Say When You're Afraid?
Scripture never tells anyone that their fear is unreasonable. It tells them who is standing with them. That is a different thing, and it is the thing that keeps turning up.
A story for this
The line "fear not" appears over and over in the Bible, and almost never on its own. It is nearly always followed by a reason, and the reason is almost never "because the danger is smaller than you think". It is "because I am with you".
David went out to face Goliath without armour that fit and without anyone's confidence. The account does not say he felt no fear. It says he remembered who was standing with him. That is the pattern: courage in Scripture is not the absence of fear but the presence of someone else.
"Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." Isaiah 41:10, KJV
You are not told the thing is not frightening. You are told you are not facing it on your own.

Questions people ask
What does the Bible say about being afraid?
It does not treat fear as a failure of faith. "Fear not" appears throughout Scripture, almost always attached to a reason — and the reason is usually presence rather than reassurance. Isaiah 41:10 does not say the danger is imagined; it says "I am with thee".
Is it a sin to be afraid?
Nothing in Scripture treats fear itself as sin. Joshua was told three times not to be afraid, which rather suggests he was. Elijah ran into the desert and asked to die. The people God uses in the Bible are frightened constantly; they are simply not left alone in it.
What is a good Bible verse for fear and anxiety?
Isaiah 41:10 is the most direct: "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God." Joshua 1:9 and Psalm 46:10 are often read alongside it. All three attach the instruction to a presence rather than to an argument.
How do I pray when I am too afraid to find words?
Shortly. In Matthew 14:30 Peter is sinking and manages three words — "Lord, save me" — and the account says help came immediately. There is no minimum length, and no version of this where the fear has to be resolved before you are allowed to speak.
You don't have to talk yourself out of it first. Say it as it is.
