Where Do You Find Hope When Nothing Has Changed?
Hope is easy to recommend and hard to hold. If you have been told to stay hopeful by someone whose life is going well, this is not that. The most quoted line about God's faithfulness was written by a man sitting in the wreckage of everything he loved.

Lamentations is a funeral poem. Jerusalem has fallen, the temple is destroyed, and Jeremiah is writing from inside the aftermath — not from a distance, and not after everything worked out. The book does not resolve. It does not end with the city rebuilt.
And in the exact middle of it, in the middle of the wreckage, he writes that God's mercies never fail and that they are new every morning. Not because the situation improved. It had not. He wrote it while the ruins were still smoking, which is the only reason it is worth anything to someone whose situation has also not improved.

What does the Bible say about hope when nothing is getting better?
Lamentations 3:22–23 was written in the ruins of a destroyed Jerusalem, before anything was rebuilt. That matters: the claim that God's mercies are new every morning was not made by someone whose problem had been solved. It was made by someone still inside it, which is why it can be said honestly to anyone still inside theirs.
Is it wrong to feel hopeless as a Christian?
No. Psalm 42:11 has the psalmist openly asking his own soul why it is downcast — the question is in Scripture, not edited out of it. Hopelessness being named in the Bible is a sign it belongs there, not evidence that something has gone wrong with your faith.

How do I keep hoping when I have been disappointed before?
Scripture does not ask you to pretend the disappointments did not happen. Romans 5:5 says hope does not disappoint because God's love has been poured into our hearts — the ground of it is God's character rather than a prediction about your circumstances, which is what makes it survivable when circumstances do not cooperate.
