Jesus is sitting near the temple treasury, watching people give. Wealthy people put in large sums — visible, generous-looking amounts. Then a widow comes and puts in two small coins, together worth a fraction of a day's wage. By any normal measure, her gift barely registers next to the others.
Jesus calls His disciples over and says the opposite of what the moment seemed to show: she gave more than all of them. Not in amount — in cost. The wealthy gave what they wouldn't miss. She gave everything she had left to live on. He didn't measure the size of the coins. He measured what it actually took from her to give them.
