Everyone I count on keeps leaving. What if You leave too?
Being left by people doesn't mean you're someone who gets left. The psalmist knew that even parents can walk away — but God picks up what others put down. He doesn't explain it away. He stays. He already promised.
The conversation
The child: “Daddy God, everyone I count on keeps leaving. What if You leave too?”
God: “Come sit with Me. Tell Me who left.”
The child: “People who were supposed to stay. They just... stopped being there.”
God: “There was a child once who said 'When my father and my mother forsake me.'”
The child: “Even parents?”
God: “Even parents. Even the people who are supposed to be the safest ones.”
God: “But the rest of what he said is the part I need you to hear.”
The child: “What did he say?”
God: “'Then the Lord will take me up.' When everyone else walked away, I picked him up.”
God: “Being left by people doesn't mean you're someone who gets left. It means they couldn't carry what I gave them to hold.”
The child: “But it still hurts.”
God: “I know it does. And I'm not going to explain it away. I'm going to stay.”
The child: “Promise?”
God: “I already have.”
"When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up." Psalm 27:10, KJV
