I'm not just sad. I'm angry. Angry at You.
Honest complaint to God is still a form of relationship, not a failure of faith. Job spoke the bitterness of his soul without being turned away for it — the opposite of relationship was never anger. It was silence.
The conversation
The child: “Daddy God, I'm not just sad. I'm angry. Angry at You.”
God: “I know.”
The child: “Isn't that wrong to say?”
God: “There was a man named Job who said much worse than that — and I never turned away from him.”
The child: “What did he say?”
God: “He said his soul was weary of his life. He spoke his complaint openly, without softening it for anyone — including Me.”
The child: “And You didn't punish him for that?”
God: “No. I let him speak every hard word. Honest anger is still you talking to Me — that matters more than you think.”
God: “The opposite of relationship isn't anger. It's silence.”
The child: “So I don't have to pretend I'm not furious?”
God: “You don't have to pretend anything with me. Not now, not ever.”
The child: “I don't understand why this happened.”
God: “I'm not asking you to understand it right now. I'm asking you to keep talking to me about it.”
The child: “Okay... I'm still angry. But I'm here.”
God: “That's all I ever wanted. Just you, staying in this with me.”
