You're asking me to do something that doesn't make sense.

Mary was young, unmarried, and had zero qualifications for what God was asking. She had every reason to say no. Instead she said 'Be it unto me.' Obedience doesn't mean you understand. It means you trust the One asking.

The conversation

The child: “Daddy God... You're asking me to do something that doesn't make sense.”

God: “I know it doesn't. Not yet.”

The child: “But people won't understand. They'll think I'm crazy.”

God: “Mary was fourteen. Unmarried. An angel showed up and said, 'You're going to carry God.'”

The child: “She must have been terrified.”

God: “She was. But her first word wasn't 'no.' It was 'how?'”

The child: “How is different from no?”

God: “'No' closes the door. 'How' walks through it.”

The child: “What if I say yes and it ruins everything?”

God: “It might change everything. Ruin and change look the same from the outside.”

The child: “Mary's life got so much harder after she said yes.”

God: “Her life got harder. And it became the most important life in history.”

The child: “You're not promising me easy, are You?”

God: “I'm promising you meaningful. Easy and meaningful rarely live at the same address.”

The child: “What if I'm not ready?”

God: “Mary wasn't either. 'Ready' is something you become on the way, not at the start.”

The child: “Okay. Be it unto me.”

God: “Those four words just changed your story.”

"And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word." Luke 1:38, KJV
