Everyone's already so much better than me. I just started.
Your race was never against anyone else's. It only ever had to be run at your own pace, with Him beside you the whole way.
The conversation
The child: “Daddy God, everyone's already so much better than me. I just started.”
God: “Better at their pace, maybe. Not better at yours.”
The child: “But he's already so far ahead. What if I never catch up?”
God: “You're not behind. You just started your own race.”
God: “Every tree I plant grows at its own pace. Some grow fast — some grow roots first.”
The child: “So slow doesn't mean I'm failing?”
God: “Slow means you're still growing. That's never failing.”
The child: “I just want to be proud of myself too.”
God: “One day you will. Start today, just by showing up again tomorrow.”
The child: “Will You stay while I keep trying?”
God: “Every single time. I'm not just at the finish line — I'm in every step before it.”
God: “See? You're already further than where you started.”
