I feel SO happy today. Like I could burst.
David didn't care what he looked like. He didn't care who was watching. He didn't care that a king 'shouldn't' dance in the street. When joy is real, it breaks every container you try to put it in.
The conversation
The child: “Daddy God... I feel SO happy today. Like I could burst.”
God: “I love this. Tell Me why.”
The child: “I don't even know why! I just feel grateful for everything.”
God: “That's what David felt when the Ark came home. He couldn't contain it.”
The child: “So he danced? Like, in front of everyone?”
God: “With all his might. A king in the streets, leaping like a child.”
The child: “Wasn't he embarrassed?”
God: “His wife thought so. She watched from a window and despised him for it.”
The child: “That's sad. She couldn't feel what he felt.”
God: “Some people will never understand your joy. Dance anyway.”
The child: “But what if people think I'm being too much?”
God: “Too much for who? I made you to overflow, not to perform.”
The child: “Is it okay to be this happy when other things aren't perfect?”
God: “Joy doesn't wait for perfect. It shows up in the middle of the mess.”
The child: “I want to feel like this more often.”
God: “Then practice noticing Me more often. Joy follows attention.”
The child: “I'm going to dance.”
God: “With all your might.”
"And David danced before the LORD with all his might." 2 Samuel 6:14, KJV
