Nobody wants me around. I feel invisible. Despised. Like I don't matter to anyone.
Being rejected can feel like evidence something is wrong with you. Isaiah described someone everyone turned away from — and it was Christ, not a verdict on your worth. He knows the particular ache of being unwanted. You are not explaining it to a stranger.
The conversation
The child: “Daddy God, nobody wants me around. I feel invisible. Despised. Like I don't matter to anyone.”
God: “I hear you. And I want to tell you something that might surprise you. I know exactly what that feels like. Not from watching. From living it.”
The child: “You've been rejected?”
God: “Isaiah wrote about Me hundreds of years before it happened: 'He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief.' That's not a metaphor. That's My biography.”
God: “I was despised. People looked at Me and turned away. I was rejected — by the very people I came to save. And I was acquainted with grief. Not a stranger to it. Acquainted. It knew My name.”
The child: “They hid their faces from You?”
God: “'We hid as it were our faces from him.' They couldn't even look at Me. Not because I was ugly. Because My pain made them uncomfortable. Sound familiar?”
God: “'We esteemed him not.' They looked at Me and decided I wasn't worth their time. Their attention. Their respect. I know what it is to be esteemed as nothing.”
The child: “So when I feel worthless, You're not just sympathizing. You actually know.”
God: “I don't just know about it. I carried it. Every rejection you've ever felt, I felt first. Not so I could lecture you about it. So I could sit with you in it.”
The child: “Why would You choose to go through that?”
God: “So that when you say 'no one understands,' I can say 'I do.' And you'd know it's true. I didn't avoid your pain. I entered it. So you'd never be alone in it.”
The child: “They despised You. But You still came for them. And for me.”
God: “Especially for you. The ones who feel invisible are the ones I see first.”
"He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not." Isaiah 53:3, KJV
