🌈 Stories of SAMACE

I keep asking for more. But I just realized I haven't stopped to thank You for what You've already given.

One thing goes wrong and the hundred that went right go quiet. David knew that pull — he wrote this as an instruction to his own soul, which is not something you do unless you have forgotten before. The good was always there.

The conversation

The child: “Daddy God, I keep asking for more. But I just realized I haven't stopped to thank You for what You've already given.”

God: “That's honest. And it's exactly where David found himself. He had to command his own soul: 'Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.'”

The child: “He had to command himself to be grateful?”

God: “Yes. Gratitude doesn't always come naturally. Sometimes you have to tell your own heart: remember. Look back. Count what I've done.”

God: “He said 'forget not ALL his benefits.' Not some. All. Because humans tend to remember the one thing that went wrong and forget the hundred things that went right.”

The child: “That's exactly what I do. I focus on what's missing.”

God: “And that's why David had to talk to himself. Your soul defaults to lack. You have to train it toward fullness. Gratitude is a discipline, not just a feeling.”

God: “Think about it — He forgives all your iniquities. He heals all your diseases. He redeems your life from destruction. He crowns you with lovingkindness. Those are just the first few verses.”

The child: “All of that has happened for me?”

God: “Every single one. But you stopped noticing because they became normal. The miracle you prayed for last year is the routine you take for granted this year.”

The child: “So gratitude is remembering what I already have before asking for more.”

God: “Not before — alongside. I love when you ask. But asking from gratitude sounds different than asking from lack. One trusts Me. The other forgets Me.”

The child: “Bless the Lord, O my soul. I won't forget.”

God: “And when you forget — because you will — I'll remind you. That's one of My benefits too.”

"Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:" Psalm 103:2, KJV
