I've been asking and asking and nothing's changing. I'm tired of hoping.
Hannah didn't hide her tears from God. She poured them out — ugly-crying, heart-breaking prayer. And He heard every one. Your tears are not weakness. They are the language He never ignores.
The conversation
The child: “Daddy God... I've been asking and asking and nothing's changing. I'm tired of hoping.”
God: “I know. I've been watching you wait.”
The child: “Does it even matter that I pray?”
God: “Hannah prayed so hard they thought she was drunk. And I heard every word.”
The child: “But she was crying for years before You answered.”
God: “Yes. And not one of those tears was wasted.”
The child: “Sometimes I think You've forgotten about me.”
God: “I never forget. Sometimes what I'm preparing takes time that feels like silence.”
The child: “It hurts to keep hoping.”
God: “I know. But the ache you feel? That's the shape of something I'm building.”
The child: “What if the answer is no?”
God: “Then I'll sit with you in the no. But sometimes the wait is the no becoming a not yet.”
The child: “Hannah got her Samuel eventually.”
God: “And she almost missed it — because she was looking at the timeline, not at My hands.”
The child: “Will I look back one day and understand?”
God: “You'll look back and see that every tear was a seed.”
The child: “I'm going to keep asking.”
God: “Good. That's not nagging. That's faith.”
"For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him." 1 Samuel 1:27, KJV
