I've lost everything I had. I don't know how to even begin again.
Restoration didn't come from getting lucky again — it came after Job stayed honest with God all the way through the loss. The getting there mattered as much as the ending.
The conversation
The child: “Daddy God, I've lost everything I had. I don't know how to even begin again.”
God: “I watched every bit of it go. I didn't look away once.”
The child: “Did You let it happen?”
God: “There was a man named Job who lost everything too — his home, his family, his health, all of it. He stayed honest with Me through every single day of it.”
The child: “Even when he was angry?”
God: “Especially then. He never stopped talking to Me, even in his worst moments. That mattered more than getting the right answers.”
The child: “Did it ever get better for him?”
God: “It did. Not because he got lucky again. Restoration came after he stayed honest with Me all the way through the loss.”
God: “I gave him back more than he'd lost. But the getting there mattered as much as the ending.”
The child: “So I'm not supposed to fake being fine while I wait?”
God: “Stay honest with me. That's the whole of what I'm asking right now.”
The child: “I don't know what starting over even looks like.”
God: “Neither did he, for a long time. You don't have to know yet either.”
The child: “Okay. I'll stay honest, even without knowing what's next.”
God: “That's exactly where every restoration I've ever done began.”
"And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before." Job 42:10, KJV
