I had a plan for my life. All of it fell apart.
What looks like the end of the story is sometimes the detour that becomes the story. Joseph's worst chapter became the very thing that saved his family — nothing handed over is ever wasted.
The conversation
The child: “Daddy God, I had a plan for my life. All of it fell apart.”
God: “I remember the plan too. I was there when you dreamed it.”
The child: “Then why did You let it break?”
God: “There was a boy named Joseph who had a dream too — and then everything about his life fell apart. Sold by his own brothers.”
The child: “That's horrible. Did his dream just... die?”
God: “It looked that way for a long time. Years, actually. But it wasn't the end of the story — it was the detour that became the story.”
The child: “How long did he have to wait not knowing?”
God: “Longer than felt fair. I never promised it would be quick. I promised I'd be in it.”
God: “What looked like the worst thing that happened to him became the very thing that saved his whole family.”
The child: “So this — losing what I planned — it's not wasted?”
God: “Nothing you hand to me is wasted. Not even this.”
The child: “I don't know what I'm supposed to become now.”
God: “You don't have to know yet. Joseph didn't either — not for a long time.”
The child: “Okay. I'll keep going, even without knowing.”
God: “That's exactly how every good thing I've ever done with someone's story began.”
"But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive." Genesis 50:20, KJV
