The people I trusted the most are the ones who hurt me.
Being rejected by the people closest to you doesn't mean something is wrong with you. Joseph's brothers threw him away, but God was already weaving every broken piece into something they couldn't imagine. Rejection doesn't define you.
The conversation
The child: “Daddy God, the people I trusted the most are the ones who hurt me.”
God: “Tell Me what happened.”
The child: “They turned on me. I didn't do anything wrong.”
God: “There was a boy once who had a coat his father gave him. His brothers hated him for it.”
The child: “Why did they hate him?”
God: “Because he was loved, and they couldn't see that they were loved just as much. So they threw him into a pit.”
God: “They sold him to strangers. And he spent years wondering what he did to deserve it.”
The child: “Did he do something wrong?”
God: “No. Sometimes people reject what they don't understand. It was never about him.”
God: “But what they meant for harm, I was already weaving into something they couldn't imagine.”
The child: “How did he get through it?”
God: “One day at a time. And I was with him in every single one of them.”
God: “The rejection didn't define him. What I was building in him did.”
The child: “Will You do that for me too?”
God: “I already am.”
"But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive." Genesis 50:20, KJV
