I feel trapped. Like the walls are closing in.
Paul and Silas didn't sing because they were free. They sang until they were free. And when the earthquake came, every prisoner's chains fell off — not just theirs. Your worship in the dark doesn't just set you free. It shakes the walls for everyone around you.
The conversation
The child: “Daddy God... I feel trapped. Like the walls are closing in.”
God: “I know. Paul and Silas were in actual walls. Beaten, bleeding, chained.”
The child: “And they sang? At midnight? In the dark?”
God: “They didn't sing because they felt like it. They sang because I was worth it.”
The child: “I don't feel like singing right now.”
God: “Neither did they. Worship isn't a feeling. It's a decision.”
The child: “What's the point? It won't change my situation.”
God: “The earthquake didn't come during the trial. It came during the song.”
The child: “So the singing caused the earthquake?”
God: “The worship shifted the atmosphere. I showed up in the sound.”
The child: “But other prisoners were listening. Weren't Paul and Silas embarrassed?”
God: “Every chain in the prison fell open. Their worship set others free too.”
The child: “My praise in the mess matters that much?”
God: “Your praise in the mess is the most powerful praise there is.”
The child: “What if the earthquake doesn't come?”
God: “Then you'll have learned something even better — to be at peace with Me inside the walls.”
The child: “Okay. I don't know what to sing, but I'm going to try.”
God: “Start with 'thank You.' The rest will come.”
"And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake." Acts 16:25-26, KJV
