🌈 Stories of SAMACE

I got news I can't unread. My hands are shaking.

Bad news arrives and you carry it folded in your fist all day, rereading it. Hezekiah did something stranger and simpler — he walked it into the temple and laid it open on the floor. He never answered the letter himself.

The conversation

The child: “Daddy God, I got news I can't unread. My hands are shaking.”

God: “Hezekiah got a letter like that. A threat, in writing, from a king.”

The child: “What did he do with it?”

God: “He didn't answer it. He carried it in and spread it out.”

God: “'Hezekiah went up unto the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.'”

The child: “He just put it on the floor?”

God: “In front of Me. He stopped holding it and let Me look at it.”

God: “You've been carrying that news folded in your fist all day.”

The child: “What do I even say about it?”

God: “Nothing yet. Open your hand and put it down here.”

The child: “And then what happens?”

God: “Then it's between Me and the one who sent it. Not you and it.”

The child: “Okay. I'm spreading it out.”

God: “I see it. Let go.”

"And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up unto the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD." Isaiah 37:14, KJV
