I don't feel like I belong to anyone. Not really. Like I could disappear and nobody would notice. Am I even Yours?
Belonging can feel like something you earn and can lose by underperforming. Isaiah records it the other way round — named, bought back, claimed, before anything was asked in return. You are not held on approval. You were already His.
The conversation
The child: “Daddy God, I don't feel like I belong to anyone. Not really. Like I could disappear and nobody would notice. Am I even Yours?”
God: “Let Me answer that so clearly you never have to ask again. Through the prophet Isaiah, I said three things. And each one was meant for this exact moment.”
The child: “What did You say?”
God: “'Fear not: for I have redeemed thee.' Fear not. That's the first thing. Before I explain anything, I tell you not to be afraid. Because what I'm about to say removes every reason for fear.”
God: “'I have redeemed thee.' Redeemed means bought back. You weren't lost by accident. You were bought back on purpose. I paid a price for you. Not because I had to. Because I wanted to. You were worth it to Me.”
The child: “You paid a price for me? But I'm not worth much.”
God: “Value isn't determined by how you see yourself. It's determined by what someone is willing to pay. And I paid everything. That's how much you're worth to Me.”
God: “Then the second thing: 'I have called thee by thy name.' Not by a number. Not by a category. By your name. I know you. Specifically. Individually. You are not a face in a crowd to Me.”
The child: “You know my name? My actual name?”
God: “I gave you your name. I knew it before your parents did. I called you by it before you took your first breath. You're not anonymous. You're known. Fully known. And fully loved.”
The child: “And the third thing?”
God: “'Thou art mine.' Not 'thou art useful.' Not 'good enough.' Mine. You belong to Me because of who I am, not what you do.”
The child: “I am Yours. Even when I don't feel like it.”
God: “Especially when you don't feel like it. Feelings change. But 'thou art mine' doesn't. It's not a feeling. It's a fact. Signed. Sealed. Permanent.”
"But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine." Isaiah 43:1, KJV
