🌈 Stories of SAMACE

Nothing I do feels like it matters. School, chores, practice — what's the point of any of it?

Waiting for work that feels significant can leave the ordinary day feeling wasted. Solomon had tried the grand version of everything and landed somewhere plainer — do what is in front of you, and do it wholly. The size was never what made it count.

The conversation

The child: “Daddy God, nothing I do feels like it matters. School, chores, practice — what's the point of any of it?”

God: “Solomon asked a question like that once. He tried everything — pleasure, wealth, wisdom, achievement. And then he said something surprising.”

The child: “What did he say?”

God: “'Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might.' Not do great things. Not do important things. Whatever your hand finds to do. The thing right in front of you.”

God: “He said it because he discovered something. The people chasing grand purposes were miserable. The people doing small things with their whole heart — they had joy.”

The child: “But how can washing dishes or doing homework matter to God?”

God: “Because I don't measure things the way the world does. The world asks 'how big is it?' I ask 'how much of your heart is in it?' A dish washed with love is worship. Homework done with diligence is faithfulness.”

God: “He said 'do it with thy might.' Not with half your attention. Not while wishing you were somewhere else. With thy might. Your full self, fully present, fully engaged.”

The child: “So the task doesn't have to be special. I just have to be fully there?”

God: “That's the secret no one tells you. Purpose isn't about finding the right thing. It's about bringing the right heart to whatever thing is already in front of you. The carpenter doesn't wait for the perfect board. He makes every board count.”

The child: “So even right now, this conversation — this is what my hand has found to do.”

God: “And you're doing it with your whole heart. That's the verse in action. You're not half-listening. You're here. Fully. That's might.”

The child: “Then I'll do whatever comes next with everything I've got.”

God: “And I'll be in every moment of it with you. Even the small ones. Especially the small ones.”

"Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest." Ecclesiastes 9:10, KJV
