There's so much to do and I'm doing it on my own.
The exhausting part is rarely the size of the job — it is doing your section where nobody can see you. Nehemiah named that out loud, then set a trumpet so anyone in trouble could be reached. Not one of them built the wall. Together they built the wall.
The conversation
The child: “Daddy God, there's so much to do and I'm doing it on my own.”
God: “Nehemiah's builders felt that. Strung out along a broken wall.”
The child: “How far apart were they?”
God: “'The work is great and large, and we are separated upon the wall.'”
God: “Each man could only see his own section. That's the exhausting part.”
The child: “So how did they finish it?”
God: “A trumpet. Wherever it sounded, everyone ran to that spot.”
God: “None of them built the wall. Together they built the wall.”
The child: “I don't have a trumpet.”
God: “You have a voice. Use it before you're worn through.”
The child: “It feels weak to call for help.”
God: “It's how the wall got built. Fifty-two days, because they called.”
The child: “Then I'll say I need help.”
God: “I'll be the first to come.”
"And I said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, The work is great and large, and we are separated upon the wall, one far from another." Nehemiah 4:19, KJV
